Accompanying the history of the German and Luxembourg mission, this church was built in the space of 11 months during 1866. Emperor Franz-Joseph embellished it with three stained glass windows above the altar representing Saint Francis of Assisi, Saint Joseph and Saint Elisabeth of Hungary. A poignant statue of Saint Joseph, erected in 1911 with its ex-voto of acts of grace which tell the history of those German immigrants who arrived at the end of the Napoleonic wars, attracted by the illusion of a wealthy and liberal Paris.
